The foundation of this zoo began in the 17th century when it was established as a private menagerie. In 1928 Warsaw Zoo began its official life as a zoo where animals could not only be observed up close but also had a safe home to live and breed without fear of being killed.

Besides visiting Warsaw’s parks, public gardens and zoos, you can enjoy the history and culture of this beautiful place. One of the best ways to do this is to visit one of the city’s many fine museums. Some of the museums you might want to visit are the Polish Army Museum, the Poster Museum – which is the first of its kind in the world – the Hunting and Horse Riding Museum as well as the National Museum. In total, you will have the choice between 60 different museums that you can visit. In these places you will be able to see and learn about the history of Warsaw and Poland in an entirely new way.
