3 Characteristics of Good Hand Cream

There are many hand cream products in stores. However, from time to time, most people still ask how to find a good hand cream. All they know is that a good hand cream is the one that makes our skin soft. It is important to know which hand cream is really the right one. Here are some characteristics that can help you choose a good hand cream.

1. Naturally based

Most hand creams contain mineral oil instead of natural ingredients. Mineral oil is not good for your skin as it can clog our pores, cause premature peeling and darken skin spots. This mineral is also oily on our skin.

2. Do not use preservatives

Parabens are typically used as preservatives in most hand creams. It is harmful because it is very hard and some have been linked to breast tumors. If a good hand cream uses a preservative, it should use a natural-based one.

3. Effective

A good hand cream is one that is not really good for moisturizing the skin, but also for treating dry skin problems. A good hand cream will also contain ingredients that combat daily damage to the hands.

Why should we say NO to parabens?

It can be a bit tricky to find a paraben-free hand cream. When paraben-free hand cream can be found, the price is usually expensive too. They will be listed as methyl, propyl, butyl and ethyl parabens. Why should we leave out parabens? Parabens have been shown to have estrogenic activity, meaning they act like estrogen in the body. This can disrupt the normal functioning of the endocrine system and lead to reproductive system and breast cancer. Research has also noticed that parabens mimic our own hormones to cause interference with the endocrine system, reproductive system, and thyroid gland. How can these cases occur? They can occur when parabens are absorbed through the skin and accumulate in body tissues.

Which is your choice now? Should you choose a hand cream with paraben, which is cheap but harmful, or one without paraben, which is a bit expensive but safe? Choose your choice very carefully and be aware that we use dozens of personal care products daily, not just one.
